Odisha tests 473 samples, gets its 4th COVID 19 case today

Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: The Odisha government till Tuesday was able to test 473 samples from suspected COVID patients through the three testing labs from the state. Unfortunately the state witnessed the rise of total COVID 19 cases from the state as it saw its fourth Coronavirus case on Tuesday.

One of the samples sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar tested positive for n-COVID 19 making the total such cases to four in the state. Unlike the three earlier cases where the patients belonged to Bhubaneswar, the fourth patient is a native of Bhadrak.

According to the health department, the new COVID patient is a 29-year-old boy who recently been to Dubai and returned to the state close to the time when the Coronavirus threat was raging. A statement from the health department said, “Fourth COVID-19 confirmed case; 29 years old male of Bhadrak district with travel history to Dubai.”

The government however plans to shift the patient to SCB Medical College for further treatment. The department said, “Health Secretary Nikunj Dhal spoke to Collector Bhadrak and asked him to shift the patient to SCBMCH, isolate the close  contacts and get them tested and trace all contacts as soon as possible. MD, National Health Mission is monitoring the follow up action.”
