Cut With Kite String, Two Injured On Cuttack Outskirts

Cuttack, Jan 15, TBN: Two persons were injured after coming in contact with a hanging ‘Manza’ kite string in the Balikuda area on city outskirts this morning.

The two persons received injuries on their necks and hands as they were entangled by a string, which was hanging low across the National Highway near Balikuda. The two were coming from the Niali area and going to Cuttack, according to the information.

It may be noted that the twin-city Commissionerate Police has banned the use of Manza (glass dust-coated) and plastic string kite-flying in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

In earlier years, a few people were killed after getting their throats slit with hanging Manza kite string at Cuttack and other places during this kite-flying season.

The use of Manza suta (string) in kite-flying has remained a major concern in Cuttack city and other places as they, when left hanging over roads, put danger for motorcyclists.
