Run 30 trains a day to bring back stranded Odias, Niranjan tells CM

Staff Writer@Blink

Bhubaneswar, May 21: Expressing concern on the low pace in bringing back the stranded Odia migrants from other states, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik has now written to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to expedite the process.

Patnaik has requested the CM go for running 30 trains a day to bring back the lakhs of registered stranded Odias from other states. “Bringing migrant workers back to the state at the prevailing pace, which involves 5-7 trains a day will mean it would take more than six months for all the migrant workers to come back,” he said.

He also added, “Union Finance Minister in last announcement on Sunday has also specifically stated that Railway Ministry is well equipped to make 1500 trains available every day at any point of time for any destination with a prior notice of three hours,” he said.

Putting forth his demand, he said, “The government should create enough capacity to receive minimum 30 trains a day at various stations of Odisha wherein enough food, water and others should be made available at each station for the migrant workers on their arrival.”
