To cater mask shortage, women SHGs are ‘Making it In Odisha’

Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: Several Self Help Groups (SHGs) operational in Ganjam district has now come forward to cater to the shortage of masks in the state by formulating a plan to ‘Make it In Odisha’. Several women workers in rural areas have now jumped onto the bandwagon.

The women workers who started the works are close to 50. The selected women SHG workers have started producing it locally through the easily available commodities around them. This comes a time when the stocks of masks have vanished from the local market due to increased demand in the light of Coronavirus threat.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Kulange on Sunday said that the locally produced masks will be available at the local level from Monday. In a Twitter post, his office wrote, “Why worry..mask is here ..prepared by Women Self help Groups of Ganjam..now will be available at GP level by tomorrow (sic),”
